Background

The CCOG was awarded a Sustainable Communities grant on April 21, 2017 to develop a complete streets plan and project prioritization for the SR 4 corridor in Murphys. This project will also include safe routes to school and multi-modal connectivity through the town of Murphys. The CCOG approved this project in the 2017/18 Overall Work Program (OWP). After receiving a notice to proceed with billable work on August 24th, CCOG staff released a RFP for consultant services. The CCOG received seven (7) proposals by the closing date of November 22, 2017.  A proposal review panel made up of CCOG, County, and Caltrans Staff evaluated the proposals in terms of the technical criteria listed in the RFP.

Based on this review, PlaceWorks was the top ranked proposal and was recommended for contract award. PlaceWorks is based out of Berkeley, California and provides comprehensive planning, environmental review, urban design, landscape architecture, community outreach, and Geographic Information System (GIS) services. PlaceWorks will be partnering with Fehr & Peers Transportation Consultants to provide transportation planning and engineering services, and ActiveWayz Engineering to prepare base maps, review project proposals for constructability, and provide cost estimates.

Advisory Committee

The Advisory Committee will  review key interim, draft, and final products; advance review of public meeting materials; and assistance with community outreach to stakeholder groups and general project guidance. The project anticipates a total of four meetings over the course of the project through spring 2019.
